Have a new set of bearing buddies -- very easy to install. I'm being very careful to not overgrease, but when it gets nearly full, grease squirts from around the spring. Is this normal? Seems to me an excessive amount. My first thought was that I'm over filling, but I don't think so.

Re: Bearing Buddies

Normal for grease around the spring. What you want to do is to pre-load the spring with the amount of grease. If there is no compression in the spring add grease. You should keep them full but not necessary to keep them maxed out.

Bob

Re: Bearing Buddies

The bearing buddies have a relief port that causes this. When the spring is compressed to a certain point the seal behind the spring moves with the spring till it comes to a small hole drilled in the bearing buddy and relieves grease that is being pumped in. This is to prevent too much grease from being pumped in and causing bearing seal damage. Like Bob said, it's normal.
