I have a hydraulic helm pump, a BayStar HH 4016 1.6 that is leaking. I have used two ring kits to try to fix the problem. It didn't work, so now I am going to buy and change out the pump. I have been told the HH 4016 is no longer available and has been replaced by the HH 4314.
My question: Can I use the 1.4 to replace the 1.6 or do I need to replace it with a 1.6 in the new HH 4314?
I have asked three marine parts dealerships and was told by each they would get back with me. I am still waiting to hear from them. Does anybody know?

Well, it depends upon who told you the 4314 is a replacement for the 4016. AND, just because the factory discontinues one model and starts replacing with another, does not mean that one helm or pump alone is swappable with another. you may need a complete system.

SO: If you get no answer here, best to contact customer service at baystar and ask.

I would contact Teleflex Customer support (aka Seastarsolutins) and ask
if the rest of your parts are compatible....... explain your current problem. I do not think orings would go bad so fast and it might be a manufacturer defect inside the unit.
