there are 2 long boxes in my cabin that has a long lid to them as well.(I store my Lifevests there) There is 1 drain hole on each box. My question is from the factory where are they suppose to drain to?
i think someone before me tried to put a crappy plug in there that ends up leaking onto my cab floor.
I used some tubing and ans some 3m 5200 to seal tubing into the drain hole. I ran the tubes to the "step box" that drains to the bilge. was this a good idea? guess alittle late to ask but still wondering lol!

Those drains are all supposed to drain to the bilge (I had a 1996 Bayliner W/A). The issue is crap that gets between the two compartments. If you placed the hoses between them, you should be good.

That step box is a great place to put ice. Especially when you need to place bagged fish fillets after the "fillet & release" program!
