i have a 1987 14' capri BR with a 1996 50hp force ..my question is whats the largest moter i can put on it..i found a great deal on a 1999 75hp yamaha and would like to know if i can use it on this bayliner

Somewhere on your boat, Warren, is a plate (required by law) that will list maximum horsepower, load and number of people allowed on board. Do not exceed that horsepower rating. I am not familiar with your boat, but 50 hp sounds about right for a 14 footer to me.<br /><br />Happy boating.<br />JB

I have the same boat and motor (1985). The plate says 50 hp. And no, it's not a fast boat, but I'm not really looking for speed, just decent cruising.<br /><br />That 75 Yammie is going to be heavier than the Force and would likely pull the transom a lot further into the water. <br /><br />If you want more speed, consider upgrading to a bigger, more powerful boat -- that's what I'm doing.
