I just picked up this 94 jazz and after going through the basic maintenance and taking it out for the first time it just stood up and would not plane off for a mile or so and only got to 30mph after a few miles. After further inspection it looked like the ride plate gasket was sucked in on the leading edge. A few other posts suggested that this was my problem. My ride plate screws would not come out and are corroded in so i rvt'd the gasket as a quick test, took the boat out and now the boat does 42-44 indicated on the speedo and planes right off. Now how would you suggest i get the screws out ? Heat ? I have tried an impact hammer and they didnt budge.
Next issue i noticed when i got home oil at the base of the motor which looks like it is coming from the base gasket through the sealant on the port side. I'm guessing this will mean a trip to the dealer to lift the motor out for the gasket replacement.
Any other suggestions ?
