Bay manufacturing shaft extender kit, need info

I just found out that I have a Bay Manufacturing short to long shaft conversion kit on my motor. I also realized when I replaced the lower unit, that I have no reverse lock rod.

My kit is a #408 and I have the parts list and diagram, it shows no reverse lock rod. If this were a T/T motor, it would make no difference. Being manual, my motor is going to climb up.

Does anyone have experience with these things?

We seem to have been through this before. If this kit is being used on your '77 Merc 500, you will see from this list that it uses a 406 kit whereas the 408 is used on the 35/40/45. The 408 is a 5" kit where the 406 is a 4" extension.

Could this be your problem?
