I want to setup dual batteries, and wanted to know if anybody has good place for instructions and a suggestion for the switch.
(2) I took the boat out last weekend for the first time. If I gave it partial throttle from idle it would bog down and not go. If I gave it full throttle it would take off and get on plane, and then I could throttle back down some and be OK. Boat just didn't seem to have the power that it should. I could only get 3800 RPM running 35 mph(according to gage). A friend of mine said it sounds like maybe I have a little water in the gas tank and suggested to put some HEET in it. Does that sound right or do I need to check something else?
It is 3.0 Merc with Alpha 1 gen 1, 17" SS Rapture prop. Thanks

see what the sell here at the iboat mall

with the blended gas i would get a real water sepator filter at 35 dollars or so

STUFF you add just hides the water and makes it hard to filter out

if it reached WOT before ?? what have you tinkered with and has it had a real tune up (timeing and all that other stuff)

i run a 17 in on a heavy 20 ft and the 3.0 revs to high but i need it because i run it a lot with a full load

tommays

Re: battery wireing and gas question

I just bought this boat a few months ago. I used a little pump with a hose attached and tried to get all of the old gas(had been sitting for two years) I was affraid HEET may not help, but I just filled the tank Sunday and wanted to avoid dumping it all out. I am planning to add a water seperator.
I don't know if it how high the WOT was before, just figured it should be higher with a 17" prop.
The carb was reacently rebuilt, new plugs, and timing is right on.

Vis, I have a 17.5 ft imperial with a 3.0 and alpha 19p prop and can get 5000 rpms out with two people in the boat running about 42 on the unreliable speedo. How big\heavy is the boat, I would think you should get at least 4600 to 4800, which is reccommended max rpms for the 3.0 litre.

It a 17.5 VIP Vision, I would guess around 3500 pounds.
