I have a 1994 175 hp merc, with dual batteries. I keep my boat in the water, with no shore power to charge my batteries. When I run at WOT, my fishfinder shows a max voltage of 12.2, and it drops if I use my trim tabs. At idle I am at about 11.8. Should I be getting 14v from this motor?

Re: Battery Voltage

Yes you should. Need to replace the rectifier, an easy task. But, first just make sure all your connections are good.

Re: Battery Voltage

I had the same problem with mine(1993 Mer. 200EFI. Turned out to be a bad battery? I'd change that first. its eaiser & try just 1 battery at a time, to test. I know. I thought if the battery had enough juice to spin & start the motor it should be ok, not so. G

Re: Battery Voltage

Both batteries have the same voltage when I switch back and forth. One is new this year.
