Hello,
I recently bought a older 84 Ebbtide fish/ski. I has a 12V trolling motor. There is a switch up in the bow that says run for down and charge for up. I took it apart tonight and found that someone disconnected the two wires coming from the battery that starts the big motor and hooked a flasher up to it.
So baisically here is what I have two wire + & - coming up from the trolling motor battery to run the trolling motor and then two wires + & - coming from the other battery. I assume the way it was originally hooked up is you could select the charge option and it would parallel the two batteries together (both deep cycles) and it would charge them both when running the big motor or if you left it in charge the trolling motor would draw from both batteries, but once you change it to run it just runs off the one battery.
Question - is there a issue with doing this? And also how do I connect it back up? Can I just have both Negatives tied togehter all the time and then have the two positives on the switch to connect them or disconnect the two batteries? I have ohmed out the switch and it makes no sense to me..
