Battery Switch ? - amp load?

Have a 24' pontoon with a 90hp Force.
Plan on adding a group 27 deep cycle in addition to the existing starting battery.

The deep cell will be used for running accessories like the radio so we can keep the starting battery fresh for the motor.

I'm planning on installing a selector switch such as this Perko.

Not sure of the CCA of the starting battery; whatever is the norm (600?).
Is this Perko switch that is rated at 250 continuous / 350 intermittent correct for this application?
The radio is just a Sony with a total of 50 watts and no additional amps.

One more? What about the switches that have the 'alternator field dis-connect? What's the purpose/benefit? Needed/recommended for our application?

Thanks,
Steve

I know cars take about 200-250 Amps to run the starter, so it should be fine. and yes car battery capacity is from 500-700 (and higher or lower) So that should be fine. If you are worried, you can find HD ones, but likely not needed.

The radio is just a Sony with a total of 50 watts and no additional amps.

Should be able to run that all day long. But remember, you will want to switch it to "Starting" battery to start. Optional - both when running. and "Deep Cycle" when sitting and fishing/listening. Many people just leave it on "starting" or Both and they are in trouble (most Marine Deep cycle have starting capabilities)

You may want to just go with an "combiner" which will charge both, but not allow for a draw from one to the other over the A/B switch... or a combination of both. Then you can just wire up the Deep Cycle to run all of the "play things" and keep the Starting to just starting. When the motor is running, both are charging.

Thanks.

Any thoughts regarding the switch with or without the alternator field disconnect?

Can you switch between 1/2/both while the motor is running with the Perko without the field disconnect?
I understand you do not want to switch to off while running as it will damage the motor electrical.

Does the switch with the field disconnect protect the motor in the event someone turns it off while running? Still allow switching 1/2/both while running?

Edit: Just answered my own questions about switching while running by reading the Perko manual. Can be done (except off) with the Perko.

One more ? Perko states the field disconnect cannot be used with a motor using a 'unitized' alternator and built-in regulator. What is an 'unitized' alternator? Sounds like no problem with a regular alternator & built-in regulator and obviously an external regulator.

You do not need the field disconnect since you do not have an auto style alternator. Outboards have a stator style alternator and no field windings. You can change switch settings while running -- except to OFF. If you intend to run a trolling motor off the deep cycle you have a charging issue you need to think about because the engine alternator will not have enough output to keep that battery fully charged. If you have no trolling motor and have no intention of adding one, then this is not an issue.
