I have decided to purchase 2 new dual purpose batteries this season. I am looking at the ones at West Marine . The battery boxes installed in the boat are the ones to accomodate the 24 series batteries. Are these adequate for a 350 Magnum Mercruiser. They are installed with a switch where I can use either one or both. The electronics are running of the same batteries....just has a VHF, GPS and, depthfinder and, bildge pumps.

Are the 24 series the right size......going to purchase 2.

Re: Battery Selection

Only had the boat for 1/2 season last year.
They seemed adequate but one was not holding a charge.

Want to start this year with fresh batteries....
Guess I will go with the 24's.

Tony, the 24's should be fine... just get the biggest CCA you can if you are worried. Since you don't start in freezing temps, and your boat engines run cooler than your car's, I don't think it's as big of a deal.
