Battery relocation up front?

In regards to most later model fiberglass bass boats....Seems as if all the batteries are mounted in the rear.
Seems to me this is probably the best place to mount them in regards to longevity since the stern will ride much smoother than the bow.
However, I've added a considerable amount of weight back there and think I need to move some weight forward to offset this change.
Two batteries moved to the front should even things out "just right".
So, the question is.
WHY should I not move the trolling motor batteries up front? Shorter wiring to the trolling motor, and, they don't charge off of the alternator.
Is there a reason that I should not do this other than they make take more of a beating up front?

Troller batteries for bow mount trollers are best mounted up front unless they cause a bow heavy trim.

Marine batteries are built to take pounding.

If you are talking about your Skeeter Bass Boat and I think you are, I wouldnt do it as you will not be happy with your boats overalll performance if you do. I can tell the difference even when I have all my tackle bags up front. There is a reason Sketter puts them in the back as do every other Bass boat I know of. I wouldnt even concider it myself.

LD, no, not the skeeter.
This is for an obnoxious project boat I'm working on.
Sort of an experiment.

Re: Battery relocation up front?

This is a very easy thing to test....disconnect two of your batteries, put them up front to you get your weight transfer, and go for a nice long ride and try some maneuvers. See if it helps/hurts your handling. Now you know if it's worth the effort.

Of course, if this is a project boat, maybe it's not seaworthy right now and this test run is not possible...

Did you see this recent thread? Yer not alone...
http://forums.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=014665
