I bought a duralast dual cycle battery from autozone sunday, I went and put my automatic 6 amp charger on it to make sure it was fully charged because I dont know how long it was on the shelf.I heard that they can lose a little charge from sitting and that's not good. The thing has been charging for three hours now and still at 6 amps.Does this mean that the battery is no good,or not that good anymore? The charger work's fine because I used it on another battery a few minutes before that one.

Re: battery question

If your charger is truly automatic it will shut off when the battery reaches full charge, i610288.

It isn't unusual for an off-the-shelf battery to take 6 or 8 hours at 6 amps to reach full charge.

If you are still doubtful, a battery hygrometer can tell you its condition, cell by cell.

Good luck. :)

Re: battery question

I agree with JB can take a while to reach full charge.
