Due to rear weight concerns I will be forced to place either the fuel tank or battery forward of my dash, about 9 feet away from the motor. Which should I choose? Or can I have them both well forward. Thanks.

You can move both forward. Because of the distance you may need a heavier gauge of battery cable. Being closer to the bow may cause the battery to fail sooner because of the increased pounding but my two trolling motor batteries have been in the bow for over two years without any problems yet.

I have a choice of 125 amp cable or 245 amp cable, which should I use. The cable will be about 9 or 10 feet long.

The 125 amp will be plenty sufficient. That starter doesn't draw all that much. But bigger is better for starters. So if the 245 stuff isn't too inconvenient, use it.
