Battery keeps dying

Took the boat out last weekend ran great batt kept dying this may be just a bad batt gonnna get new one but read somewhere maintenance free batts are no good is a marine batt that much better should I run 2 for acc ( sonar, radio lights riggers

I would also check to see if your engine is charging the battery; use your multimeter to check battery voltage without the engine running then check the voltage at the battery with the engine running voltage should slowly rise. A marine battery is bulit to perform better; also, it can take charge and discharge better.

As Will stated, check the charging system. Stay away from maintance free batterys. What's the model # ??

50esl71s what voltage does it charge at is it just above batt voltage or should it be higher

What you are looking for is that the voltage reading with the engine running is higher than what you read with engine off. Different engines charge at diffrent rates; some are regulated and others are not.

Ya definately not charging have to start checking stuff are rectifiers pricey

Also tryin to get 84 60hp no compression for project
Are they worth rebuilding is upgrade to 60 from50 worth the hassle and will my controls 1971work on 84

Another question do they charge more at higher rpm. If I troll all day usin my riggers should I run her a while before I dock. Or would I be good to run 2 batts

Run the heck out of it when you get done trolling. The charging rate is greater at higher rpm's. Also good for the mtr.
