Battery hook up

Just got an electric start, 2000, for my sailboat. The motor is setup with two wires that connect to the battery. Wish to use two batteries with a 4 way switch. What do you think.

Hi....Done lots of battery work over the years.Maybe I can help.Not sure what you mean by a 4-way switch.Please explain.you probably should also post this topic in the 'engines+motors'

I'm referring to a Batt 1, Batt 2, On, Off swithch...Thanks RC

You also might consider using a 'Delco maintenance free' battery which is less likely to leak electrolyte when the sailboat is on her side.
