I have a 2007 out of the box Etec 150 and I?m wondering about batteries.

I?ve always used regular car batteries once my marine battery went bad. I get more years and have had no problems using with my older model 150 (1996). So what I?m wondering is can I do the same with the new Etec.

I've been usung 600 ? 840 car batteries.

BRP recommends 750 ? 940 MCA.

Your thoughts if any.

Thanks!

OK

So you like the bigger batteries, but does it have to be a marine battery??

and will any harm be done to the engine if I use the smaller ones or have one of each and alternate.

does not have to be marine battery, it just takes more power to turn the big ones over. they have to get +- 300 rpms to start. i'd rather have that spare power. the cost is insignificant between the 2 batteries.
