I am considering buying a bass pro shops i series 3 bank 5/5/5 charger for my bass tracker. I have a 24 volt trolling motor system and a 12 volt start system. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Any experience with this particular charger? The reviews sound good and at 139.00 it seems like a rather reasonably priced unit.

Re: battery chargers

I have the Bass Pro Shops XPS I series 2 bank 5/5 charger and I've been very happy with it. I like the way it automatically transfers all the charge (10 Amps) to the battery that needs it, once one is fully charged. Also the maintenence mode works well to keep the batteries topped off during layup. It seems to be a well built unit and is easy to install. I used one of these Onboard Charger Plugs to make it even easier to hook up the power cord to it...

Re: battery chargers

If your 24V trolling motors are in series you will need to make sure there is either a 24V mode or that there are grounds that are floating from each other.

Make sure you read your manual regarding this.

Re: battery chargers

I have the XPS 5/5/5 on a 24v system. No problems. Seperate leads to each battery.

Re: battery chargers

Recieved the charger via fed ex yesterday, plan on installing it today. The directions are pretty good actually. Seems simple enough one pair of leads to each battery "even if wired in series".

I will let you guys know how it goes
