Battery Chargers & Galvanic Corrosion

I just installed a new on-board dual bank battery charger to charge my two 12 v deep cycle batteries. the batteries are wired in series to power my 24V electric trolling motor.

The boat is moored in all summer and I was planning on leaving the charger pluged in to charge and maintain the batteries. Do I have to worry about increased galvanic corrosion as a result of pluging in my battery charger? I have a 19 foot fiberglass boat with a merc I/O. The 24V system is completely separate from the rest of the boat electrical system. The boat is in fresh water only and is not near any other boats. the boat is moored against wood piers that are attached to a steel break wall. Thank you for your input.

Re: Battery Chargers & Galvanic Corrosion

I don't think you will. 1st, you are in fresh water...2nd, it doesn't sound like you share a ground between the 24V system and anything that sits in the water.
