Battery Charger

I just purchased 2 new optima blues for my boat... I used to plug in my charger via shore power when parked at the house... My question; Is this the correct kind of charger for an Optima battery? Does it matter?

The Sales"man" at Sears didn't give me the confidence I was looking for ...

You do not need any special type of charger to charge Optima batteries. Optima does recommend a maintenance charger if the battery is going to be sitting unused for extended periods of time. (winter storage)
