Battery Charger Purchase

Any recommendations on the type of portable Battery charger I should purchase for my boat? I use two Deep Cycle Group 27 batteries.

I'm more of a weekend warrior and I keep my boat at Public storage so purchasing an on board charger is not an option right now but I want to avoid purchasing the wrong type of charger.

Why is an on-board charger not an option and a portable is. You need 120 volt AC power for either type - whether in public storage or not.

Because the boat is stored outside so I'll be disconnecting the batteries to bring them home and store them over the winter. So a charger for here is a better option.

And my complex goes crazy when I bring the boat in. Darn homeowners association!

HOA I have a schumaker speed charger. I top off my batteries every 2 weeks and have never had an issue. I would recommend a trickle charger with a microprocessor to prevent overcharging if you want what's best for the batteries however. The speed charger does not offer as thorough of a charge but does a good job however.

I personally use a Nautical marine charger it has 2amp for trickle charge and if you want to power charge the batteries quick it also has a 10amp and also a 15amp. In Toronto Canada where I live its sells in Canadian tire for 80 bucks which is not bad for a really good charger. GoodLuck finding a good charger.


P.S - Spend the money on a good charger, I learned the hard way.

To answer the OP's question specifically I have this charger

The one I have is a slightly different model as I have a 75 amp engine start mode and this one is 65 amp.
