Hi all, I have read in a couple threads here that mixing chemical profiles is bad. Mixing old and new is so bad, but more acceptable due to the practical reasons (not replacing older batteries with new ones when they work just fine).

I have three batteries. Two for the engines and one for the house side of things. They are all flooded interstate.

Can I run with a better AGM for the house while keeping the two engine batteries flooded?

I should add that the house battery cracked and needs to be replaced. The others are fine.

Thanks.

While not the best, adding AM to a lead acid bat charger is not all that bad. Doing it the other way would be worst

LA = 12.7V
AGM = 12.8V

It shouldn't harm anything, but do note that the regulator may not allow it to fully charge.

Even in your vehicle, car, suv, truck, whatever, if you replace just the single battery in it, with a different type of battery, you may need to reprogram your charging system, for it to get fully charged.
So many people don't know that, but it happens regularly.
