Battery and Trolling motor Question...

Hi guys I have a small 24 ft/lbs thrust motor will a small garden tractor bat or car batt be fine. I know you guys recommend a Deep Cycle but roughly how long run time can I get on a normal 12V batt? How may amps do you recommend I want to keep it light, hoping for somewhere in the range of 2-4hrs run time @ 50-60% power.

Your motor will draw between 24-30 amps of power. A Lawn and garden battery won't support this type of draw for long.

Plus the repettive heavy discharge will kill it after a few short uses. A small deep cycle like a group 24 is small and lite and is what you need.
