Batteries, what kind?

On my old boat I used a 275amp lawnmower battery to power the trolling motor and fish finder.

I figure a bigger boat needs bigger batteries.

It's a 75 Rebel 17' bassboat w/an 85hp Mercury Thunderbolt 850 2 stroke

The accessories will be,

A 50lbs or so trolling motor
Eagle Cuda 300 fish finder
2 or 3 low watt led lights for the interior
bow and transom light
floating fish light
spot light
1500gph bilge pump
750gph bilge pump(livewell setup)
tilt/trim motor

I want to have two batteries, one isolated for a starting battery and one for running the accessories.

I doubt this motor has a great alternator for charging, but I also read that I can switch the charging system on the motor from battery to battery and keep the starting battery almost fully charged and charge the accessory battery while going across the water.

So what kind of batteries? I was thinking Optima red or blue tops, but I have no idea.

Re: Batteries, what kind?

AGM batteries will not provide the same amount of daily use that a lead/acid battery will. That being said I bought an Optima D34M because they don't spill, have a longer lifetime, no fumes.

Optima website has a battery selector chart....blue top cranking and a blue top deep cycle will do.
