I have a single bank 6 amp. trolling mtr.deep cyl. charger\maintaining unit can I jump it over to the starter batt. and maintain both at the same time. My house has a batt. switch with batt.1 batt.2 off and both will that make any difference ??? I,m plugged in to shore power most of the time

It ought to be ok, but if you run both batteries down pretty far, and to try to charge them both, the two batteries together may demand too much for the charger and it could overheat/shut down depending on the charger's design. Some chargers are self-limiting in the amount of current they put out, so in that case it wouldn't matter. I trickle charge three deep cycle batteries together in order to keep them up, but they are already fully charged.

Make sure your charge rate on the deep cycle (in amps) does not exceed it's AH (amp-hour) rating divided by ten, unless you know better. For example, a 46 AH deep cycle battery should not be charged at more than 4.6A, unless it is specifically stated on the battery. Follow this advice and you'll get long service out of your deep cycle.
