OK guys. This year is kicking off with the BassMaster Classic on lake Hartwell. The water level is low, but they're still hosting it. The water temperature is about 51 degrees and the weather is expected to be a low 37 and high 61. Friday it's supposed to be raining. I can't wait to see what, and more importantly where, these guys bring 'em in. They've been running all over the lake all week testing spots out. I will keep you all posted, as I will be a spectator (assuming my wife won't leave me, that is).

Look for me on TV. I'll be the idiot drinking beer with 2 of my beer drinking buddies on my big pontoon chasing the guys around!

Cool. Keep us posted. I always wondered just how much of a zoo a lake gets to be when those guys are there. I'll bet it'll be nuts.

It is a zoo for sure. You think these guys show respect?
Don't let the TV fool ya.
They could care less about anyone or anything else on the water.
You fishing somewhere, they don't care, come flying in on you, throw a couple times, fire up and away they go.
BTDT on Lake Seminole one year with a BP Top 100 tourney.
They are nuts.
I did get to meet the Gideon(sp) fellows.
Came in and put in where we were staying.
Pretty cool enclosed trailer they have also.
Double stacked the boats inside on hydraulics.

I wanted to go this year. Unfortunately, that won't happen. Lotta guys from the local lake message board are going, and many are staffing certain aspects of it.

Yeah, I can't wait. They're doing the weigh-ins at the Bi-Lo Center (a 15,000 seat sports\entertainment arena) in Greenville, which is strange to me. It's a good 45 minute drive from the lake. But hey - who cares? The other thing that is weird is they are having vendors etc. at the Carolina First Center (very large convention center) in Greenville, but again, about 15 minutes from the Bi-Lo Center and at least an hour from the lake. But, since the festivities are all weekend, starting Friday, I'll hit the convention center with the vendors Friday, the lake Saturday and the final weigh-in on Sunday. I'll let you guys know about all the freebies I get. We're on a mission to see if we can fill bags of freebies! :)

Save some freebies for me! Was going to run the lake and watch, but it will be a bit tooo nippy for me. Going to the vendor show and the weigh in on Sat.

Got to meet Mike Iaconelli, Ish Monroe and Boyd Duckett at BassPro last saturday, my boy got their autographs on his fishin hat and got his pic made with Mike. Absolutely made my boy's day. I was really suprised at how nice and personable they really were. Mike had about a 5 minute conversation with my son (he's 9) about his favorite baits and lake. While at the same time Boyd was talking to me about the local lakes and their levels with the drought. Much nicer guys than the Nascar jerks..errr I mean drivers I have met....

PS I would be REALLY careful with alcohol on the lake saturday...Was talking to a DNR guy last week and he mentioned they would be out in full force on the lake all weekend!

Man the classic was just a ton of fun! I am sorry that a lot of you coul dnot see it. I was able to shoot about 4 hours of video at the expo for those of you who could not be there. I have it on a site now but I do not want to promote that site so I will be putting it all up on you tube over the next few days so that you all can see the interviews and all the cool things at the classic. I was even able to talk to a lot of the big pros... so I will be posting the likns for the you tube videos when I get them all up there... there are over 40 videos total.. all about 3-5 min clips.. Each video is for a different interview or for a different booth...

See you all next year at the 2009 classic down south!

Re: Bassmaster Classic In My Home Lake!!!

The Classic was AWESOME! SC represented very well, and I was happy to see it. The weigh in's were GREAT, and the Bi-Lo Center crew did it up as they always do.

I made away with a TON of freebies! At least 6 T-Shirts, a bunch of stickers, some lures including some expensive ones, small tackle box, a cooler, 3 hats, 4 coozies to keep my adult beverages cold, some DVDs mainly product related and a ton more. It was a great time.

I did get a chance to talk to some of the pros. They were really cool. When I told them I was just a Joe from around here and asked what they were catching on etc, they told me exactly what they were using and where they caught them. I can't wait for another event like this to come around!

AR - what are you serving those videos up from? A P Pro connected to dial up at your house? :D I gave up after 5 minutes of waiting!

Re: Bassmaster Classic In My Home Lake!!!

each video is about 15MB or more becuase I uploaded them to higher quality so its easier to see the faces and products of the booths being interviewed.. Sorry abou tthe long delay in some of the videos to upload... some of them are long. High speed is the best thing to have when trying to watch them. sorry that it takes so long but trying to get the best quality video up there on that site.

It sounds like y ou had a great time too. It was my first classic and I had a blast! What was your fav part? and will we see you at next year's classic?

Re: Bassmaster Classic In My Home Lake!!!

My favorite part was just talking to the pros. I couldn't believe how down to earth these guys were. It was like running into someone at the bait shop and asking hw things were. These guys are just like you and me! It was great. I will definitly go to more tournaments, as long as they're close, of course.

I think the speed of the videos is coming from your hosting site provider. I'm running an OC48 (yes, a major defense contractor is paying me to enjoy iboats right now :D ) and it's still slow.
