Pfleuger(sp) I think makes their reels they look the same as the pres and other lines of their reels. TO BAD THEY SUCK! BPS reels are junk and dont be tempted to buy one cause they are on sale or have some cheap combo. Youll regret it trust me.

ok guys, thanks for the imput. I was looking at the Pflueger reels and the salesman at BPS showed me their line. Just wondering. Didn't know what to make of it. You know how some salesmen are.

Try a pfluger and you wont be dissapointed either the Pres or the supreme.
tackletour.com for reviews on it.

If Pflueger makes BPS reels, then wouldn't it be cheaper to buy their brand. If it is the same. Just asking.....

Re: BASS PRO SHOP REEL AND ROD

There not the same thats the problem. Pfluger uses better components in their reels than the BPS ones IE bearings,(abec rating) gears tighter components work together to make a better reel. Pick up a Pres or supreme and feel how smooth they are to reel. BPS are terrible casting reels, BUT they are cheap and has a BPS symbol on it so it must be good huh?

Re: BASS PRO SHOP REEL AND ROD

BPS reels have been made by Quick, Silstar and Pflueger over the years. I bought one 20 years ago made by Quick, it broke after 1 trip, sent it back, the second one broke almost as fast. Wound up trading it for Garcia. The worst part of BPS reels is you can't get parts for the reels from anywhere other than BPS.
Their rods on the other hand I use. Good quality for the money. They're made in China to BPS specs. Any rod I've had a problem with BPS was happy to exchange.

Re: BASS PRO SHOP REEL AND ROD

We have TWO reels and 1 rod. Annual re-greasing takes the noise out. Before I discovered the grease fix I really cussed it out for the howl it made on a walleye trip. Only one reel howled, the other was quiet which really frustrated me. I have no complaints now.

The Extreme MH 6 1/2' rod is my wife's fav. She likes it better than her Shimano Clarus and Spirex reel.

Ditto on the Shimano, excellent reels. All reels feel smooth at the counter, Shimanos feel smooth years later as long as you take care of them. The only BPS Extreme reel I own was made by Ryobi before they sold their fishing division. The biggest problem with it is parts availability. BPS rod and reel repair is the only place to get parts for it and they charge $5 to ship a 10 cent drag washer and IT came off a parts reel. Stick with the name brand stuff, you'll be better off.

spots
