Re: Bass in the mountains !
Had the same problem moving to north Georgia from Florida after 52 years fishing down there. Took a while, but I can catch bass all year in our reservoir now. You have a lot of Ky spots and some large mouth same as here. Any time of the year, fish out of curent in flats on structure on drop offs and fish cranks as fast as you can and spinners with willow leafs through brush in summer and fall for lg mouths, slow down with worms and craws in winter and spring.
For spots, crank baits (blue backs or yellow brem) fished really fast everywhere, expecially over small creek beds in the shallow washes. These fish move....and move.....and move in the spring and fall. winter and spring, first drop over 12 - 15 feet near main lake points. "swim" tubes and worms slowly in deeper water over rocks and brush, letting them "tip" the structure, then jerking the rod up, and continue retreve. In spring, watch for strippers attacking blue backs and shad on the surface and throw heavy spoons past the school, let sink 15 feet and real fast. Fall is when the lg. mouths and spots hit shad the same way, downsize the spoon, and be ready to chase the school with the big motor.........I never turn mine off when this is happening.
The more you fish these waters and remember every hit and it will come to you.........eventually!
