I have gotten back into fishing a little but miss the competitiveness of golf. I do not miss the cheating in golf.

What do I look for and how do I find a good club and tournaments to fish. Not looking to become a pro but would love to compete and visit with those who know.

Re: Bass Clubs/Tournaments

I used to be "Very", involved in the local Bass Club 25+years ago. It was a great bunch of guys and I actually was a charter member and helped to start the club, was even President and secretary a couple different times. Bass Clubs are great, and you can learn more in a year than in a lifetime trying to figure Bass fishing out by yourself. Be very carefull though, if you are married, its difficult to prioritise things belonging to a club with all the prefishing for tournaments and such. Most clubs build points throughout the year which means that if you really want to compete, you cant miss any tournaments. You will have to have a very understanding wife. I didnt, and my marriage ended in devorce, (wasnt just the fishing though). Look around and try and find a family oriented club, they are out there.

Texas Bass Clubs

Thanks for the insight, are their any ruling bodies or associations that the clubs should have affiliation.

Ask around the boat docks for tournments here we have wenesay nighters on 2 lakes thursday nighters and saturday and sunday tournments, the sunday tourneyment is a big fish tourny only,if your looking for higher levels join a club affilated with bass, its part of the federation.there very fun to fish lubes right a federation has points and meetings and can travel to many lakes but you can move up and fish state tourneys and on up all the way to the bassmaster classic,My dad started a club 25 years ago with a bunch of guys its jusst for bragain rights with just a little money,IF thats what you want just start your on club and if it grows you can always become a federation charter.
