Cheater <br /><br />Not that all of these guys do this, but this is the reason I dont tournament fish anymore.

Thats a shame,the other anglers ought to have a shot at him first,when you get that level and that much money is on the table its bound to bring out some of the worst apples.Im really surprised at that level a person would cheat,makes you wounder if he cheated all the way through to get at that level.<br /><br />A few years ago on tims a dude was caught getting fish out of a basket,i heard some of the other anglers had a go with him it wasnt to pretty,they actually had a guy with a videorecorder recordering him.

I think people like that should be banned from all future tournaments. You cheat on purpose and your out.

Nice that guy is a stones throw away from me in less summit. What a moron! I hope they castrate him so he cant have kids. Money brings out the best in people huh.

It happens all the time. Money or not. Theres a lot of tournaments around here and theres always someone doing it. We compete in a couples tournament each year. Not any money to speak of, just a good time with the wife and 100 other couples. Every year someone does that. Makes no sense at all.

unfortunately I have run into him on one of the local lakes, it's actually kind of suprising he seemed like a nice enough fellow. Unfortunatly it was a slow news night so it was on all of the local channels so it should be interesting to see how it affects the local tournaments this year.

Kind of like the guys around here that shoot big bucks at night with spotlights or over bait piles. These people are lacking something in life.

This explains why he had the "no net/no help" rule in his (and only his) boat. -so you couldn't see that the fish he was lipping was still tied to a stump.<br /><br />Cudos to Huckaby for turning him in!<br /><br />spots

Almost kinda makes ya lose faith in your fellow man. <br /><br />If he'd caught bigger fish on tournament day probably never would have got caught.<br /><br />I wonder, what kind of idiot would stash his illegal catch in a good fishin spot where somebody might snag 'em?

Hmmmm. A bit off topic, but it does have to do with misbehavior while bass fishing.<br /><br />Long before he became one of my favorite fishing buddies, Bill Summitt was bass fishing somewhere in Arkansas during the rifle deer season.<br /><br />He suddenly saw a magnificent buck swimming across the lake. He chased it down, lassoed its antlers, towed it ashore and tied it to a stump.<br /><br />He rushed home, got his rifle and went back, only to find that the buck had gotten away, rope and all.<br /><br />Bad thing to do, but it gets worse.<br /><br />Several months later, while getting a haircut, he mentioned to the barber what he had done.<br /><br />The next morning the Game Warden showed up at the door while he was eating breakfast and arrested him for harrassing wildlife. Cost him a C-note.<br /><br />It seems that the guy in the next chair had shot a big buck that had a rope around his antlers and was tangled in brush so that he couldn't get away. He called the heat.<br /><br />Maybe this belongs in SHT?

Most of the big FLW and BASS tourneys do too but only if you win. If you just caught enough to place in the money...<br /><br />This guy had an Applebee's sponsorship and several other sponsors that were paying him thousands because of his "skill". Imagine how wizzed off they are.<br /><br />spots

I doubt jail time is necessary. The fact he'll never be able to fish a money tournament again and the shame involved will do far more to rehab then spending some time in jail. He'll be lucky to be able to fish a local bass club tourney.

i thought all big bass tourneys have a nutral observer in the boat. that guy should loose his fishin license (in all states) and boat to deter others from the same

There IS a second partner in the back of the boat but this guy had a rule of never helping each other out and never using a net. THis way he could hook the fish tied to the stump, say "dang, he's hung up, I gotta go get him" and then troll over to the fish and position the boat where the partner could no see what was happening. Good plan, but it'll always catch up with 'em in the end.<br /><br />Greed has a way of doing that.<br /><br />spots

I hope he gets the maximum fines and sentences for what he did. I also hope his sponsor go after him legally for what he's done.
