Recently given a 1987 Barkley Young Boat (Model 44-SC). Whaler type skiff.
I have just begun to work on it and currently looking for a cover and the right size trailer for it.- it is stored outside when not in use.
Any suggestions?

I've moved you into your own topic. We ask that you not post to topics over 90 days old unless you're the original poster.

I would suggest you find a local canvas shop and have a custom cover made for it. More expensive, but you'll get a better fit and function.

Welcome aboard.

I have owned a barkley young in Toronto Canada for 30 years. we Love ours. I have an Evinrude 70VRO on it and trailer it now every weekend.we ski and even barefoot (185LBS) off this boat with 4-5 passengers aboard! Dont be discouraged about this boat at all. for 25 years, when a rescue boat was needed for lake ontario, the club would ask to use our boat instead of the many Boston Whalers as ours had a great big cockpit, and was so solid in heavy Lake ontario chop. It is wet in the heavy chop but that is the type of sport boat it is. It is an amazing boat when cared for. I have seen the tragedy of many whaler style foam core boats.

What I have learned:
1- Add a drain Garbord ( Brass) to the lowest point of the boat. I drain the boat of any water every fall. ( Only about a quart drains, for the last 20+ years.) All foam injection boats suffer from moisture in the core. Our 2018 Marine survey indicated very low moisture content. I expect it is from Draining any Core water yearly.
