Barbed hose connectors - how snug should they fit?

Hi all,

I am adding a in-boat fuel filter to a 3/8 fuel line. I am little unsure whether I have the right size barbed brass hose connectors....When I connect the 3/8 line the barb connector slides right in. Should it be a tight squeeze to get these barbed connectors in the hose?

I figured what is the point of having a 3/8 line if these brass connectors on the fuel filter end up restricting the flow. Just wondering if these brass connectors I had on another boat are the wrong size.

Thank you!

See if you can get some 3/8 " barbed connectors for the filter. On a lot of filters you can change the connectors.

anyone know if using 5/16 connectors with a 3/8 line would be detrimental to performance on a 115HP ETEC?

Can you buy these brass connectors at any hardware store?

If you have a Lowe's or Home Depot close by they have a great selection of barbed hose connectors. It's best to have the corrwct connector. Good luck
