I am curious how many people are seeing bans on 2-cycle engines. I ask as about 1/3 of the lakes in my state now ban them due to pollution.

I don't see that happening as some of the reports I have read a lot of the newer 2 strokes run cleaner than 4 strokes.

None here in Minnesota, although there are a lot of small lakes in the cities that ban all gasoline powered motors.

Here in the northern wastelands, we're so fond of our little old Johnnyrudes that there'd be a major uprising if they tried to ban them. There's at least one old outboard in every garage in the state. I believe it's a state law that you must own a Johnson, Evinrude, or old Mercury of some description.

This last week, I saw a 9.8 hp Evinrude 4-cylinder from the 1940s on a guy's brand-new Lowe 14' aluminum boat at my favorite lake. It was pushing his boat right along as he moved to a new fishing spot.

Where are you? Links to regulations? Specific language? Usually rumor and not fact . . . And when you say "all" two cycles that is another thing that is typically misstated or misunderstood . . .

I have a cottage on a national park in Canada.
They banned all pwc,s 4 years ago but yet allowed jet boats(same thing)
They also made it mandatory that you can only use emission certified motors.
Most of the new efi/dfi 2 strokes are allowed & all 4 strokes & inboards are ok.

I can't believe they'd do that. That would really kickup the GDP if those laws catch on. Scary.

What part of "not engine topics" did you not understand, Bubba?

Moving this.

where are you at in Missouri? I am in Missouri and at least in my area non of the lakes have banned them. What lakes are you boating at. A lot of the small ones might be banning them maybe. I would like to know which ones?

Re: Banning 2-Cycle engines???

I am putting a duplicate of this thread in the PWCs forum, as they are not outboards but are mostly affected by regulations concerning 2 stroke engines.
