Ok so we went out for salmon out of Rochester onto Lake Ontario. It started out quite foggy but with fish finders full of mature fish at 30 feet in front of the river. After about 40 minutes we hooked into our first fish and after a spirited fight we boarded her.A nice 38 inch fish.
From here on it was dead as a door nail.We tried all the way out from 30 fow to 130 fow and although there were piles of bait ,each with their big fish in tow,we did not have a single tug on the lines.
Then out of the blue,my fishing partner asked if I wanted a banana.A what???? I asked.A banana she said.
I must have turned all colors of purple and she did not know why.I very quietly asked her to throw this cursed fruit far far away from my boat, but this just upset her.So I gathered my spirits and explained to her that a banana on a boat is mayor bad luck. Then I asked her for the bananas and threw them over board.
Less than 5 minutes later we hooked into a 2 year old king and after that into another 2 steelhead of about 10 pounds each.
Later we had a good laugh about superstition but I made her promise not to ever bring a banana on my boat ever again.
