Brand new 1999 Tohatsu 3.5hp put into service just the other day using recommended 25:1 break-in mixture. Started fairly easy, but would not idle down after prolonged warmup without stalling. Only way to keep it running was with slightly closed choke, but rpm's apparently too high to put in gear without breaking brass shear pin (twice) in plastic prop. Unfortunately motor now several months beyond warranty. Any thoughts?

I'd start with cleaning the plugs. Then try and avoid any prolonged idling on the 25:1, as that will load up the motor and foul spark plugs. Might help to tach it up in nuetral for a couple minutes before shifting if lengthy idling is necessary. Not the way I'd break in a motor, though!
