Balky throttle on my 40 Yamaha

I recently bought a 1995 40hp Yamaha (my first outboard) and the throttle is extremely tight. It's not the cable. I looked for obvious corrosion but saw none. Does anyone have any thoughts on what it may be? Thanks<br /><br />Mike McGreevy
