Baiting device

The old guy I bought my boat from gave me a 2' long piece of pvc pipe full of small holes, capped at the bottom and a slide at the top. He said to put dog food in it and let it set for about 20 minutes before fishing. Is this legal in Texas? I couldn't find anything on Parks and Wildlife's website about it. If it is, does it work?

Does it work? Depends on what you are fishing for.<br /><br />Is it legal in TX ? Probably covered under "Chumming" in the regulations.

Yes it is legal in Texas and yes it works. I have 4 that I will put a weight on as well as a small float and bait out different places if I am going to be fishing the same lake for the weekend or more.

It is illegal to "chum in Calif", however we can set traps for crawdads and I use dogfood in the trap, and meanwhile I fish near by. Get crawdads and fish!
