Starting with the Houston Boat Show opening being delayed a day because of the Texan playoff game on Saturday. Then today the Atlanta show was due to open except a 70,000 gallon wake boarding tank ruptured and flooded a large part of the hall. They said no boats escaped to the Chattahoochee. Do I hear a banjo?

I live in the Houston area and go to the show every year. Christmas, New Year, Boat Show. This year it really didn't seem all that wonderful. It was OK I guess, but seemingly better in previous years.

On thursday morning at about 130 am a fire engolfed 16 luxury cruisers at spring brook marina in Senica IL. I was horrified to watch the news footage. This marina is a major exhibitor at the chicago boat show. After walking the show yesterday, I am finding the show continues to shrink. Most manufacturers are not even displaying anything larger than trailer boats. It seems that the econemy allong with the fuel expense has destroyed the boat industry. I am pleased to see that there are still a few dealers willing to invest in these boat shows despite the great expense.

I used to go to the G.R. Brown CC for the Houston show and was always impressed by the complete range of boats. I have no idea what the Reliant show is like. Do they still have the Hunting & Fishing show in Houston? That one I liked, always some good deals on fishing gear. Now that I'm in Atlanta, I went to the show yesterday and probably won't go back. Not very big and mostly high $ boats. No smaller boats at all, which is surprising considering the economy.

I haven't seen the hunting/fishing show here in a while. I went to last years boat show at the reliant and was extremely disappointed.I don't know if I will go to anymore for a while.60 bucks to park and get in with the family with really not much to look at and most vendors are fishing guides and hunting guides advertising there tours. Nice to talk to them but really.
