so i decarbed the engine by spraying some chemtool b-12 into each cylinder and carb and running it for a while. well it worked so good that i got thick black sluge droping from the exaust even a week after the process.
it ran like crap, like it was running on one cylinder, and smoked like i was expecting but then awaing i switched to wally world outboard oil.

the plugs where covered with carbon very quickly. this force '89 50hp is getting to be a lot of trouble.
seems like everytime theres a diferent problem. wish i could afford a manual for this eng.

Decarb is a repeat process. It is also possible you need to replace the plugs since the crud has to go somewhere, they can get fouled. It usually takes three treatments to get the engine cleaned up (if it never been done before and the engine has been around awhile). As for manuals, thats the best investment a boater can make. If that's not possible, check your local library.
