bad impeller?

I have disaasmbled my lower unit and have looked at my impeller. The fins are still intact but they are bent in different ways, that is two are straight and a couple of the others are bent into a helical position. I tried turning it and it will not budge. Is it good or not? I'm trying to find the answer to why there is no water coming out of my pilot water hole. I was also wondering if I could test the cooling system by putting water pressure (ie. garden hose) to where the end of the water line connects to the pump? I don't have an adapter for the flush hole to try but that would be below the water pump anyway.

Everybody will tell you to go ahead and replace the impeller since your already in there. I've used a hose to run water through an antique motor I was working on, but be careful, make sure you're getting enough flow into the block.

The reason the blades of the impeller look dis-similar is the fact that the shaft is not centered in a not perfetly round pump housing. Thats how they work. Change the impeller while you are in there anyway. They are cheap.

Yes you can hold the hose up to the water inlet tube. Don't get carried away with a full blast from the hose though. Chances are the "pee hole" might just have some debris in it requireing you to probe it with a piece of wire.

I tried putting the hose to it but water seemed to be coming back out the bottom of the lower unit. I don't know why, maybe the hose clamp that I put on wasn't holding the hose that I connected the brass input pipe with.
