It is amazing how much easier this makes lining up my SUV to the trailer. This is my first time towing something, so I can't image how much of a pain it is to line the two up, especially when you are all by yourself.

I also notice that trailering things become progressively easier, once you get the hang of it.

I only wish my boat had a cam on back, the ramp we use is pretty narrow. I duno if my g/f's directions are that helpful.

Re: Backup Cams

When I tow with an SUV I open the rear hatch. It gives much better visibility of a trailer, especially an unloaded one.

You will get more comfortable with the trailer as you tow it more. I don't really see a need for a camera that will undoubted be dunked and damaged after a few trips to the ramp.

Practice backing a trailer in a big parking lot. You will undoubtedly go from what my dad calls "snake lines" to a nice smooth, controlled drive.

congrats on the new boat!

Re: Backup Cams

I have three cameras on the truck.
One mounted on the outside of each of the front doors and one about eye heights in the middle of the windshield. Makes backing up pretty easy. :D:D

Re: Backup Cams

I've got a license plate mounted backup cam that saved my bacon once... Got distracted while hooking up, didn't have a chance to doublecheck everything like I normally do. Hopped in, backed out of the driveway, and noticed the trailer latch was still up!!!

I PROBABLY would have been ok, I have quite a bit of tongue weight and only a short, relatively smooth drive. Not something I want to test though.
