In Colorado we have to have a backfire flame control on all gasoline engines on or in boats. What is that?

Re: backfire flame control

All motors must have a spark arrestor. These are the small aluminum breathers you see on inboard/outdrive settups. Outboards are exempt due to the engine being contained in the cowling. Basically, you don't want to have a backfire on your engine with gas fumes in the compartment. KAAABOOOOOM........ Outboards use the airbox settup. Hope this clears it up..
