I'm now recovering from the 4 days slugfest on the gin clear soup bowl called Lake St. Clair. For some reason, the weather was awesome while much of the country wasn't so nice. I'm so used to have to work hard to have a successful day on the water in Indiana. This was a catching trip and not a fishing trip and had a GREAT time. We lost count each day. We estimated that it was about 50 fish/day average. I caught my biggest smally so far. She was good 6lber on the lightest rig I had (8lbs test line). We lost 2 jerbaits, 1 crankbait to pikes and muskies. The crankbait was lost to a musky about 40 inches. All 3 lures are not made anymore. I'm now sporting 5 bandages on my hands. You Michiganders got it going on up there. I'm looking forward to next year already. I'm not the bearded one in the pics by the way.

Very nice. Glad you had fun. Sometime you should head further north and check out the northern lakes. The smaller ones are chock full of that kind of fish (not that I can catch them, but my friends tell me so...)

"gin clear soup bowl", wow things have really changed on St. Clair. I lived within a couple hundred yards of Lake St. Clair for over 25 years, grew up on it really. Also managed one of bigger tackle and bait shops near it in the 70's and we never referred to the lake as "clear" EVER. I was even there during the very sad years, when we weren't allowed to fish in the lake AT ALL, because of the mercury pollution, but there were lots of other bad things in the water then.

Well, your definition of clear might be different then our. If visibility goes beyond 3-4ft, that's clear. If you can see bottom in 10 FOW, that's gin clear. :D

You should check out northern Lake Huron sometime...If I knew the right spot I could still see anchors that I lost as a kid 30ft down;)

Sounds like a great trip...now if I could finish my rig I will be out on St. Clair myself:D

Nah, my buddies told me that since the zebra mussels got in St. Clair, it got really clear. I used to troll big musky lures and couldn't see them two feet down! Lot of other changes I guess, gobies and white perch and who knows what else.

Whatever the changes are. I'm not complaining. :)

Nice smallies gonef! Our trip to Rockville was pretty bad. Weather mostly contributed. Cold front and high winds but cold beer!

I was going to ask you how was the trip to Raccoon. The weather was crappy last week for sure. Sat. wasn't bad, cloudy all day and no wind. I came in fifth place at Waveland.
