back flushing 4.3mpi/alpha1g2

I have a bayliner 205 with 4.3mpi. I am going to take the drive off and I thought a read somewhere about back flushing the engine to remove flakes of rust etc...Where exactly would I flush it. Was it through the thermostat port or something.

You would need to drain the engine first and then fill through the thermostat housing. Just keep in mind that chemicals that eat rust eat iron too.

You'll need to remove the thermostat, fit a made up separater plate to direct the water through the block before it returns out of the water pump inlet, then remove the exhaust elbows and somehow create a flush attachment in such a way as to not fill the inside of the manifold with water, then have enough force to actually achieve something... Nah, just drain out the water and put her to bed for the winter....
