Got the motor very cheap knowing it had problems....

Was told the splines in the the prop must be badly worn as it was loose - changed the shear pin and thats fine now, no splines to wear!

Cleaned carb and it starts first pull every time, runs smooth and quiet.

Water in the oil was problem 3, looking on this forum told me it could be the plastic oil filler assembly that mine has, so had to pull motor off to change it.
Removed all the bits I think need to come off, carb off out of the way, wiring disconnected, dropped gearbox, took out 4 bolts from leg up into motor but cant move it, feels like its still bolted in...

I cant see any more bolts, but it sure feels like there must be one or two!

Serial number is B100 1014396

Help.

I just took a look at the powerhead mounting gasket for that motor and it looks like holes for 5 bolts in picture...you can pull up the parts diagrams and part #'s at boats.net

That's a great site, thanks.

I can see the fifth bolt now, just need to find out how to get to it! It's inside the case so I guess the mid section of the leg has to come off first?

Well, it out now!

Three more bolts around the drive shaft, all hidden until the mid section of leg is removed.

Then it still wouldn't budge!

Another bolt at the rear of the motor, had to take the exhaust seal off then get to it up the side of the exhaust.

Then it came out.

Looks like the usual problem with the plastic oil filler assembly. Paint was bubbled up around the water aperture.

Off to boats.net to order parts.....
