As some of you know, I ended up buying a 34' Nauti-Line Houseboat last year,....
"Mom's Paycheck",.......aka; Bondo's Barge........

Mooring it at the Riverhouse turned out OK last year,+ I've come up with what I Hope is a Better Plan,.....
But that's Another Story,.......

The Main drawback to this Whole thing has been Moving it,.......
I had it delivered the 20 miles from the auction site for a couple Hundred Bucks,+ Charlie the Hauler was able to Launch at the Marina across the river from My places.....

Then last November,.... I towed it out into the bay,+ around Independence Point to Chaumont Harbor,.. there's a Marina over there with a Travel Lift,......
There We set it on Charlie's trailer for the ride back though the Village to the Marina across the river from My places..... It's sat on the old concrete roadbed all winter,.... John only charges me $100.00 for the winter....
But,.....
That's Another couple Hundred for Charlie,+ a Few Hundred for the Travel lift ride......

Soooo,........ I figured I could Build a Wagon out of My Junk Pile,+ Cut Charlie,+ the Travel Lift out of the picture,....... Give John another Hundred or 2,+ Still be Ahead of the Game,..........

I had to Call In a Favor for the 3 sets of housetrailer Axles,+ Wheels........
100_3664.jpg

Then I had these old Bar-Joists I snagged from a Jobsite a couple of years ago leaning by the compost pile,............
100_3668.jpg

So,..... I started gluing things together,...........
100_3752.jpg

And Gluing More things together,...............
100_3764.jpg

Of Course,... A week or so ago,.... The Great Nor'Easter,.......
100_3790.jpg

Finally,..... Last week the weather broke,+ things started to Look like a Boat Trailer......
100_3801.jpg

To be Continued..................................

Re: Ayuh,.. I needed a Trailer,+ Had a Pile of Junk,....

Part II,...........................
(Seems I ran up against a Limit on Images,....... This'll Fix That,.......)

Last Night,...... Ready to Sneek it the 13 miles to it's New Home,....... At 10' 6,1/2", by 43'9"........ No Sweat..... For an Ole Trucker like Me.......
100_3809.jpg

The 1st 31' went on Very Nicely,...... I just swapped jacks down along the keel, as the axles pasted each point,..... My Love was doing the Watching, while I did the Backing,....... Unfortunately,.... Niether of Us saw the Contact with the keel board on the Trailer,........
She's sitting 3' Short of Exactly where I wanted it,......
And,....... 6" Starboard at the Fore,.... Only off by 1, 1/2" at the Stern......
100_3816.jpg

I'll be headed back out tomorrow to center the bow,+ slide it up the last 3',...... Still gotta put on the other Tires,+ build the Bowstop,+ I got some Side-Guides to weld on.......
100_3824.jpg

I'll keep Ya posted,..... I got to have it Floating before next Saturday,......
John wants to get at the Docks stacked Behind Her.......:)

Edit; Day 2,......

Today I managed to get it Centered,.... Then I slid it To Far the Other way,.... Not as much though.......
100_3827.jpg

I'm going back out tomorrow with a gas Welder,+ add the Side-Guides,+ a Bowstop on it,..... It's just a foot Short of where I wanted,......

Ayuh,..... At 10,+ 1/2' Wide,..... It's going Nowhere from where it Is,.....

Total travel will be about 100 yards a year....

No Reason for Springs,+ I need it Low to get the boat Back On it next fall......

maybe over the summer add a couple of self centering rollers. have you thought about welding a triangle to the frame in front of the front tires, incase it drops off the ramp. i like a long tongue inorder to get it to float. how did you load it, wasn't it blocked up?

Re: Ayuh,.. I needed a Trailer,+ Had a Pile of Junk,....

Over summer, I'm going to redo the Wood on top of the Rails,.... It needs to be Taller in the front,+ taper to center.... I see a 6X6 where I have the 4X4s now,.....Other than needing the Height up front to take the keel off the neape,.... The Rails are carrying the load Nicely......

The Ramp at John's goes from Blacktop to Stone, to Mud.......
I Think my pickup, in Low4 will pull it Out......
If Not,..... John's got a Backhoe on site,.... I'll hook that to the front of my truck,+ We'll haul out together......

I Always like Long Neapes,....... But in this case,... I Need it to get Deep enough.....
how did you load it, wasn't it blocked up?

Oh Ya,..... She Was on Blocks.........
Debbie has pictures of me getting the truck,+ trailer Lined Up,.... Then it was Alot of Dishsoap,+ Careful Backing,+ Lots of Jacking,+ Rejacking,+ Reblocking,+ Rejacking,...........

For the 1st 31' of the Hoped for 34'...........

Today was More Jacking,+ Blocking,+ Come-alonging it into place..... I could have gotten that last Foot,.....
But for a few days,..... It's Close Enough.......

Looks like a good job!!! I have three different trailers at my farm in Tennessee that I built for specific purposes. My dad has found other uses for two of them, one of them gets used only for the purpose it was designed though, hauling long cedar poles.

Re: Ayuh,.. I needed a Trailer,+ Had a Pile of Junk,....

Well,............ I had High Hopes that I'd be telling just how Sweet the launch went by tonight,........
But,......
The Wind didn't want to give Up,.... Til All My Help had gone home.......
By the time I was getting ready to head Home for the night,.....
It went Dead Calm......... Not even a Ripple.......
But it was just Too Late to attemp the move......
Maybe 1 night this week, or next weekend She'll be Splashed.......

I did manage to get out there a couple times last week,+ Finished the Guide-Ons,+ the Bow-Stop........
I wanted to Fit it to the boat for Loading it this fall.....
100_3842.jpg

100_3843.jpg

Once I get the Boat off the trailer,.... I'm going to replank the bed to form it better to the lines of the hull........
It's going to be supporting the hull from the Transom forward along the Outside Chines of the hull, Full length...

Anybody think I'm Nuts for Not supporting it somewhere along the Keel,..??..??.....

Re: Ayuh,.. I needed a Trailer,+ Had a Pile of Junk,....

i think i would especially under stringers of the engine area. could be something that could be adjusted to be out of the way (lowered) when loading, and raised to support. or just 2 4x4's wedged under it for the winter.

Ah, what you can't accomplish if you are a capable welder. Looks real good from this perspective Bond-o. How is the weight balance and did ya install the bearing buddies?:p

Re: Ayuh,.. I needed a Trailer,+ Had a Pile of Junk,....

Weight Balance turned out Remarkably Well,............
'Course,.... 4 Tons is 4 Tons......

We moved it around with a rather Large Bobcat skid-steer the other day,........
It Looks Heavy, but with those 2 Chrylsers,+ drives hanging off the back,.....
It Ain't Bad at All for a Whim,+ a Guess..........:D

Launch is Tomorrow if the Wind dies down.......

I am in awe. It looks really nice. I know what Boom' is thinking. It looks a little tongue heavy. But with three axles and no suspension travel it would be a little hard to determine for sure. Did you get it launched OK?
