I read the sticky on weight distribution and I have seen the video.

I have a new-to-me Boat that I am putting onto a new-to-me trailer.

The boat is a 1987 Aquasport Sandpiper, dual console, 22 feet 2 inches (hey every inch counts).

It has a 1996 Johnson 150 hp.

I have the boat on stands above the trailer. I am getting ready to lower it onto the trailer and set up the bunk boards.

I should think this will be a good time to make sure I have the axle in the right place so that I don’t have to redo some of this.

Does anyone have any experience with this hull? Right now the trailer is on a single 3500 pound axle that “lands” about 1 foot aft of the captain’s chair, which is to say roughly 7 feet forward of the transom.

I’m wondering if having the axle there will distribute the weight properly.

Any suggestions?

The only way to tell is drop the boat on the trailer and start weighing. Two Aquasport 222s don't necessarily have the same weight distribution after 33 years.

BTW, how much weight should be on the tongue? And can I measure that by putting a bathroom scale under a jack?

if my bathroom scale is to be trusted, Looks like I will have about 330 pounds resting on the ball.

Too much? Seems high.

BUT... I forgot I haven’t hung the motor yet!

That would take some weight off the tongue, right? 👅

Adding the motor will lighten the tongue. Best to hold off making any adjustments until the motor is installed and batteries, gas, etc. are in place to what the normal down the road rig weight will be.
