I recently was given a 1989 Sylvan 18ft . V-188 I.O. w/ an OMC Cobra 5.8 L Engine. The boat hull and trailer are in excellent condition. The engine has not run in over 4 years. My friend bought it brand new and used it once in a while in fresh water only. When he came down here to Florida 4 years ago, he said that he winterized it to the best of his knowledge. I?m not sure what that means because he still left the spark plugs and gas in the boat. At this point, I would appreciate any help in finding out the following information:
- What steps should I take or parts to replace to get the boat going (i.e. spark plugs, gas, oil, belts, tubing, etc..)
- Engine Service Manual recommended for use with the 1989 OMC Cobra 5.8L
Thanks, KrazedFadi
