Picked up this 2009 Avon 310 Rover LITE Friday evening late and then went out of town Saturday, so today was her maiden voyage for us. Went perfect. The 2009 Mercury 9.9 started first pull and ran like a top, just perfect running engine. Previous owner said he only had this rig out 4 or 5 times, which usually means 8 - 10. Wife and I with a little gear and it seams to get on plane quick enough and doesn't require full throttle to either get there or stay there.

Downside......pain in the butt getting the motor on the boat, not sure if it's better to put it on when on land or once the rib is on the water? No trailer obviously.
Other problem, sore back from tiller steer. I was sitting on the side and was twisted. I will probably try to trade this for a little bigger RIB with a wheel and a little bigger motor, and trailer. This RIB still has high value because of its age, I would think. I had asked for value of it before I got it, one guy answered and said about $2,500.00. NADA is about $3,600.00, so I think I could get $3,000.00 selling out right next spring, tho' I may list it soon.
Then I can just go find a used 12 - 14 footer with steering and negotiate with cash. I can add cash to whatever I sell this 1 for also, I'm not limited to $3,000.00. The original owner that I got it from had almost $5,500.00 in it, I have his receipt from when new. He might not have shopped enough, I think it can be bought new now for a little less than that even.
This is juts a toy to explore with, we also have a 22' Stingray with a 300 hp 350 MAG and a little cuddy, we overnight on it often.
Just being on the water is great !!!

If needing more future power you could pass that 9.9 to 15 for peanuts, I find more confortable to place engine on transom when sib is floating to my waist level, have one mate holding sib still, then proceed to carry engine vertically and place engine on transom, same when removing.

You must swap 9.9 magneto/carb cam for the 15 HP model, the 9.9 is factory restricted and assuming you have a disguised Tohatsu engine under a Mercury cowl. It's cheap and coversion is fast, will achieve better hole shot, carry more weight and increased top speed. Your rib transom should be able to handle the extra HP as both 9.9 & 15 are same size and weights same.

I wouldn't recommend trying to drop the motor into the "water" while standing at waist level. Especially in salt water. Best bet is to work on land right next to the vehicle. Then to easily get the RIB into the water with no damage, add a pair of transom launching wheels onto it. This would allow one person to launch and recover the boat and move it for hundreds of yards easily.

Don't jump into an empty swimming pool untill you know if you have a disguissed Yam or Tohatsu inside that Mercury cowl ? If Yam forget about it. Post some pics of internal engine. A 310 boat is too small to place fixed, rebuttable type launching wheels, too much weight at back transom. Check if you can find small removable ones that can be left at car, beach.

Eat all your spinach for a nice grab & hold as indicated in the owners manual if wanting to place engine securely while boat is floating...
