I would like to add an auxilliary fuel tank to my 24' Wellcraft sport fisherman walkaround. I'm thinking of a plastic tank (Folt) rectangular in shape (50x13x12 30 gal.) I would like to replace the existing transom board with a structure to house the tank that would also serve as a bench seat. How should I plumb it? Will there be trim problems with the weight? other comments! thanks

Re: aux fuel tank

30 gallons is roughly 200 pounds. The trim issue is easy to check. Just have a 200 pound person ride back there for a test.

You can plumb it in with a three way (fuel rated) valve.

If you are going to fully enclose the tank it must be vented overboard, with an overboard fuel fill also. Be sure to use ONLY marine rated fuel fill and vent hoses. They have a red stripe.
